Nine alleged members of the <a href="http://www.world-today-news.com/rival-bands-in-marseille-escalating-violence-calls-for-intervention-from-crs-8/" title="Rival Bands in Marseille: Escalating Violence Calls for Intervention from CRS 8″>DZ Mafia, the main Marseille drug trafficking clan, were in police custody on Wednesday for their involvement in a double murder in November 2023, a police source told AFP, confirming information from the Parisian.
Ten people were arrested on Monday in this case, but one of them was no longer in police custody on Wednesday, according to the AFP source. These people are being questioned as part of the investigation opened after the murder of a 25-year-old woman and a man in his twenties, shot dead in their vehicle in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in the working-class neighborhoods of north of Marseille on November 11.
“Suspected hitmen and their drivers”
According to Le Parisien, “among those held in custody are the suspected hitmen, logisticians and drivers” suspected of being involved in this shooting, which in addition to the two deaths had injured three other people on board the same car.
At the time of the events, the Marseille public prosecutor Nicolas Bessone indicated that the five people affected were parked in the parking lot of a McDonald’s around 11:00 p.m. “when a vehicle (had) arrived at their height and (was) going to knock them down the Kalashnikov.
This raid comes in a context of excitement in the Marseille community, since two narchomicides once again plunged the city into mourning in October, notably the murder of a VTC driver, a collateral victim of drug trafficking.
