In Lithuania, seven servicemen and two civilians have been put on trial for stealing 14,000 dry rations from the US Army intended for American soldiers stationed in the country. About it reported the Lithuanian prosecutor’s office on Friday, 2 July.

“A case has been brought to court on charges of theft, abuse of office, bribery and bribery of seven contract servicemen and two persons who, under a labor contract, worked at a military training ground in Shvenchensky district,” the report said.

According to the investigation, at least 1,176 packs with army dry rations, in which there were more than 14 thousand pieces of this product, were stolen from the warehouses of the landfill.

“The amount of damage caused is more than 121 thousand euros,” the prosecutor’s office added.

The members of the criminal group transferred the stolen property to other persons for sale.

A US Army battalion is currently in Lithuania, which was deployed from its permanent deployment at Fort Hood, Texas in mid-December 2020. The US military brought with them Abrams tanks, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and other equipment.
