Nine people evacuated after rock fall in Trolla in Trondheim – NRK Trøndelag – Local news, TV and radio

We were very unsure of what it could be, says Hilde Johnsen to NRK.

The sound she and the family woke up to turned out to be a solid boulder that had fallen out behind the house.

The landslide has occurred in a residential area in Trolla just outside Trondheim.

– The first thought was if a bomb had gone off.

Never experienced anything like this

Hilde Johnsen says that the crash was large and that things fell off the shelves. She has lived in the area for 27 years.

– I have never experienced anything like this.

Geir Johnsen says he heard a big roar.

– It was decorations that fell from the walls. So then I realized that at least it was not a dream.

Now they have been evacuated to a hotel in Trondheim. The most important thing is that no one has died, says Geir Johnsen.

Several boulders are unstable

For safety reasons, she and eight other people are from three homes, in consultation with the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).

– Our patrol observes that several stones are unstable up in the mountainside there, says operations manager Trond Volden.

The fire brigade has set up floodlights and the police have sent up a drone to monitor the mountain slope.

– They are constantly observing more boulders that are unstable and they are afraid they may collapse, says Volden.

Sending geologist

NVE will assess whether there is a need to do more. A geologist is on his way to the site and will assess the situation in daylight.

No injuries were reported in connection with the landslide.
