A minibus and a truck collided on the Kaluga-Tula-Mikhailov-Ryazan highway in the Tula region. As a result of an accident, nine people died on the spot, information on the number of victims is being specified, the press service of the regional Ministry of Health reported today, January 25.
“According to preliminary data, nine people were killed, data on the victims are being specified,” – said in the message of the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region reported that the accident occurred on the territory of the Leninsky district of the urban district of the city of Tula. According to the preliminary version of law enforcement officers, the Volkswagen Transporter minibus drove into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a truck, after which both vehicles drove into a ditch and overturned. At the same time, the minibus was under a cargo vehicle, the department added.
On the fact of an accident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 5 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of the road and the operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of two or more persons). The prosecutor’s office of the Tula region took control of the course and results of the investigation.
Police officers are currently on the scene. The truck driver is reported to be sober.
