Thirty-five years after its closure, the small lock at Thionville is under construction. It will regain its usefulness next October: good news for the thousand boaters who pass through Thionville each year, and who will no longer have to share this obligatory crossing point with vessels ten times the size. Putting this small-scale lock back into service will above all save nearly two million cubic meters of water per year.
