Since the beginning of this year, nine children in Bashkiria have tested positive for HIV infection. According to the Republican Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases, these are five children under 15 and four teenagers.
To date, 264 children are registered with the diagnosis of HIV. Most of them – 232 – are not yet 15 years old. The remaining 32 children are between 15 and 17 years old. The main route of transmission is reported to be perinatal, from mother to child.
Note that most often HIV is detected in people aged 31 to 40 years. This year, their number was 42.11% (646 people) of the total number of infected.
