Hong Kong has registered nine new corona cases in the last 24 hours. It is the first time in two weeks that the country does not register a double-digit infection rate of more than two weeks.
Nevertheless, the authorities believe that it is too early to say that the country has recovered from the omikron outbreak in the country.
Trapped with blind date in lockdown
– It is too early to say that we have the situation under control because we still get new cases of infection every day, said health inspector Edwin Tsui Lok-kin at a press conference on Friday. It writes South China Morning Post.
Mild symptoms
Of the nine cases of infection registered on Friday, six cases were import infections and three local.
The health service in the country also reported on Friday that all corona patients admitted to the hospital are not seriously ill. Most had no or mild symptoms, such as sore throat, runny nose or low fever.
Closes two hospitals after corona scandal
Since May 2021, there have been few registered cases of infection in Hong Kong with daily infection rates of around 2 and 5.
In December, however, the infection picked up in the country, which has led the authorities to closely monitor each individual case of infection. That’s in line with China’s “zero tolerance strategy” for outbreaks.
Traces outbreaks
The health authorities have in recent days carried out infection tracking after two omicron outbreaks.
There, the health authorities have found out that the infection can be traced back to the flight crew on Cathay Pacific who had brought the infection into the country.
Unvaccinated pregnant women were denied hospitalization
A person among the flight crew is said to have infected his mother, which in turn led to an outbreak of infection in which 45 cases were registered.
