He Public ministry has announced that as a result of the 26 raids carried out for the Q67.7 million fraud at the Chimaltenango Hospital, nine people allegedly linked to the case have been captured.
But it has been determined that the detainees would not only be related to the case of the healthcare center, but it has also been discovered that, of the nine companies raided, eight are fake and operated in the department of Guatemala.

“The detainees are: Mario Rodolfo Pineda Cifuentes, Carlos Roberto Ovalle Abaj, Ozni Eli Navas Delgado; Luis Stuart Solórzano Veliz; Marlynn Melissa Moroccan Chali. Ovidio Morales Ortiz was also stopped; Charles Humberto Garcia Lopez; Walter Humberto Garcia Guerra, and Pedro Aguilar Sequen (apprehended on the public road),” the official report details.

In the raid proceedings, cell phones, documents and other electronic devices were seized that will strengthen the investigation of the Chimaltenango Hospital case.
In this case, Luisa Fernanda Villagrán Méndez, legal representative of Voltar Intermedia Sociedad Anónima, is linked to criminal proceedings. Also Gerardo Arturo Fuentes Rubio, who served as director of the National Hospital of Chimaltenango.
The third of the defendants is the former vice minister of public health, Gerardo David Hernández García, who was in charge of hospitals nationwide. The three officials are currently accused of fraud by the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Impunity (FECI).
According to the MP, the fraud of the Q67 million 737 thousand 291 is because the money has been paid without complying with the terms of reference offered, guarantee service, there is overvaluation and the immediate delivery of 580 hospital equipment has not been fulfilled.
