Nîmes: the TrioPopcorn on the way to make the 24 Hours of Le Mans dance

They are in the starting blocks! After years of moving heaven and earth to take the Rock ‘n’ roll – a fabulous machine for distilling good sound – to Le Mans, the three rockers of the TrioPopcorn group from Gard have been elated. And for five days, this joyful and generous Gard formation will be the best time for fans in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Throughout the day, big-hearted rockers will relentlessly roam the various places bringing together the public to make them sing and dance at their leisure.

“We have restructured our group since September with the same desire to reach out to people and experience a real moment of sharing with them”, rejoices Norbert, the singer and founder of this colorful group. His thing? Challenges. After having played at the Vélodrome, on the Croisette or on the port of Saint-Tropez for the music festival, with the prospect of strolling through a repertoire combining the rock of the 70s with that of the 90s, the forty-year-old is jubilant.

Hot dog machine transformed into a giant amp

“It’s an adventure every time and our old hot-dog machine transformed into a giant and autonomous amplifier leaves no one indifferent!”. A slightly wacky idea born of an announcement launched by the City of Nîmes in the Free lunchA few years ago. “The town hall was looking for groups able to wander the streets on the occasion of the music festival. The idea came to me to transform on this occasion my old New York hot dog machine into a machine on which to plug the guitars and my microphone and offering enough autonomy to allow us to do the show for several hours”.

After several tests, this engineer at the CNRS succeeded in what he wanted: to create a mind-blowing machine offering 7.5 hours of capacity, called the Rock’n’roule. Since then, event organizers totally under the spell of the trio and their curious team have been snapping up the TrioPopcorn and their music, “a real delicacy for the ears” !
