This Friday morning, the prefect Marie-Françoise Lecaillon was present at the National Police School to pay tribute to the police officers who died for France during the Second World War.
It is a ceremony which generally takes place on May 8 to pay tribute to the police officers who died for France during the Second World War. An event which finally took place 20 days later in Nîmes within the national police academy. On this occasion, the prefect of Gard Marie-Françoise Lecaillon took over the speech of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.
A ceremony where was also present Jean-Paul Fournier, mayor of Nîmes, Senator Denis Bouad, Jean-Pierre Sola, Departmental Director of Public Security of Gard but also the prosecutor of Alès François Schneider as well as the sub-prefect Jean Rampon . A wreath laying has of course taken place.
A tribute was also paid to the seven police officers who died in the exercise of their function in 2020. The prefect then presented several medals to certain police officers in order to reward acts of courage and dedication for interventions during fires or to avoid drownings. The 450 students of the school were obviously gathered for this tribute.
