Nîmes: the police carry out an operation in Clos-d’Orville to look for pyrotechnic devices

This Friday, December 30, the police carried out an operation in the Clos-d’Orville district to look for pyrotechnic devices. On the same day, in the afternoon, police confiscated a box containing 396 F2 rockets from a grocery store on rue d’Aix.

A dozen police officers carried out a search operation for pyrotechnic devices in the Clos-d’Orville district this Friday morning. The cellars and common areas of the district were visited and a dog specialized in the search for weapons and ammunition was hired. If they did not find pyrotechnic devices, their colleagues on mountain bikes seized a box of 396 F2 rockets in the afternoon from a grocery store on rue d’Aix. These products are authorized for sale in some authorized shops.

These two operations follow the arrest of a man who sold, on December 14, during the France-Morocco World Cup match, artificial products kept in the boot of his vehicle at Clos d’Orville. The police then seized more than 200 pyrotechnic products (5 category F2 batteries, 134 different category F2 and F3 mortars and 16 packs of 5 smoke bombs).

in the Gardo, “in order to prevent any disturbance of public order”, the prefect Marie-Françoise Lecaillon has decided to prohibit from Friday 30 December from 8pm to Sunday 1 January at 8am, the acquisition, transfer and sale of fireworks (categories F1 to F4, from C1 to C4), pyrotechnic articles (categories T2 and P2) and launching devices. Porting and transport by private individuals is also prohibited. And their possession and use of these fireworks are prohibited on the street, in public spaces and in places of large gatherings. These prohibitions do not concern, in the context of their activity, professionals holding a certificate of qualification.
