The 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (REI) commemorated the fight of El Moungar, this Friday, September 24, in the arenas of Nîmes.
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., open house and fair at the Chabrières barracks, rue Vincent-Faïta, in Nîmes.
On the track, around 800 soldiers are reviewed by the corps commander and then by General Alain Lardet, commander of the Foreign Legion, who presided over the taking of arms, in the presence of the Music of the Foreign Legion.
The battle of El Moungar (Algeria, 1903) illustrates all the values of the legionaries. Among them, “honor and fidelity”, the motto inscribed for a hundred years in gold letters on their flag.
This ceremony is also an opportunity for these soldiers far from their families to re-establish links and to reunite with their loved ones. On the stands of the arenas, executives and families were present.
The presentation of white caps allowed sixty young students to formalize their entry into the great family of the Legion.
