Nîmes: some secrets of Las bodegas locas revealed

Sunday, January 22 will take place the second edition of Las bodegas Locas, a gastronomic and oenological stroll in the heart of Nîmes. The stroll will make you discover emblematic places of bullfighting culture and celebration. Attention, places are limited, early registration recommended!

Steps kept secret…as far as possible. The Coordination of bullfighting clubs revealed on Saturday, January 14, some elements of Las Bodegas locas, a bullfighting and bodegastronomic wandering. In the emulation in relation to this cultural and festive event, it is difficult not to spill the beans, or at least let some indiscretions about the concocted program filter through.

Unmissable places in the bullfighting world

Initially, to the music of the Esplanade, visitors will travel through emblematic places of bullfighting culture: “that people don’t necessarily know” confides Philippe Michel, one of the organizers. “Some bodegas closed, but renovated for the event.” The one who is also president of Col y toros can not help but allude to places “secrets”such as a certain bodega called “Chacha”

Other more obvious sites are unveiled in an assumed way: the arenas, under the piano notes played by a bullfighter, or even at Pablo-Romero, the last stage with the air of flamenco puro. In this place, there will also be an ephemeral shop, open to all, where the wines and products offered on the menu will be sold.

The Costières de Nîmes at the rendezvous

On the menu side, the organizers agree to give a few clues, just enough to make your mouth water: charcuterie from the Barcelo ganaderia, cheeses from Suerte, Iberian-inspired dishes.

For its second edition, Bodegas locas is in partnership with the Costières de Nîmes. Admittedly, at the premiere in 2020, this union of winegrowers was present. But this official alliance “changes the concept.” insists Philippe Michel, member of the coordination, evoking an added value in relation to “the image and the display”.

To illustrate his point, Roland Cecchi-Tenerini, new president of the Coordination, grabs a pink hat and pocket (intended to house a fork and a glass) where the Nîmes crocodile is drawn in white. The set signed Costières de Nîmes, provided to participants. Eight winegrowers from the syndicate will be on hand to present their cuvée, chosen according to the dish. Note that each stage will be filled with 84 bottles.

Attention, on January 14, there are only around thirty places available (read below), because the event is limited to 350 people, including invitations.
