NÎMES Second edition of the hot meal for the elderly of the Route d’Arles district

Yesterday at noon, the Anteprima restaurant was privatized to welcome the elderly of the Route d’Arles district and their end-of-year meal. The aim of this event, organized for the second time in a row, was to break the isolation of the elderly in the neighborhood and promote social interactions.

It is a highly anticipated event for these 46 seniors from the Route d’Arles district. Seated at Evrard Zaouche’s Anteprima restaurant this Tuesday at noon, these elderly people in isolation enjoyed a meal elaborated in collaboration with the organizers. A complete menu, consisting of an appetizer and a second course of your choice, as well as a dessert accompanied by a coffee. Afterwards they were offered musical entertainment, provided by Fiesta Loisirs, where everyone was able to dance. Present for the occasion, François Courdil, Councilor for City Policies and Social Centers, launched the idea last year: “We want to reconnect on the road to Arles with the help of associations. It is an exciting and emblematic district of Nîmes, a symbol of its identity”, He explains.

Evrard Zaouche, head of the CGR and the host restaurant, expressed his delight at hosting this event: “I’m happy to receive them, I’ve lived in the neighborhood for a very long time, there are a lot of people I know. They’re older people so they have their habits, but we’re lucky to have skilled teams, who bring people together.”

As the former president of Olympique d’Alès in the Cévennes recalled, all this would not have been possible without the initiative of the Route d’Arles neighborhood center and the many people behind the scenes who worked around it. The impetus of Catherine Timonier, director of this neighborhood center, was necessary, the investment of Abdelghani Lemouchi, local development agent and Farli Ayari, youth coordinator. The two men were also very considerate of these elderly people, who obviously enjoyed their time. Julien, from the “Avec” Association, immortalized all these moments of life on video to seek out the word of the elderly. He is also one of the many partners of this meal, together with Solid’Éco (Maryline Zonzon), Vanishing point, Côté Jardins Solidaires, Bienvenue à Bord, Saïd Moumen, member of the Haute-Magaille neighborhood committee and even NegPos.

More events are planned in the coming weeks to continue building links between the people of this district of Nîmes.
