NÎMES School map 2023: last day of mobilization before the decision

It is at the end of the afternoon that the 2023 school map will be unveiled. So this Tuesday, the parents of pupils fearing class closures mobilized in particular at the Gustave-Courbet nursery school in Valdegour or even in front of the Albert Camus high school.

Early this morning, several dozen parents of students gathered to blockade the Gustave-Courbet nursery school in the Valdegour district of Nîmes. Fearing the closure of a small and medium section class, they prevented the children from going to school.

“A closure would lead to an overload of students. At that age, they need to be taken care of in good conditions, especially in a school located in an REP+ zone like this one. Some students do not speak the language well , others need attention more than others”assures a parent of a student present this morning who regrets having learned late about the closure of this class.

In the early afternoon, while the committee responsible for officially establishing this 2023 school map met at the Albert-Camus high school, a handful of parents and trade unionists were gathered in front of the establishment’s gates. They were few but noisy. ” We are here to say loud and clear that we do not want closure for the classes that are in the rurality of the Gard. »

Beneath the windows of the Lycée Camus where the decision makers, parents of students and union representatives gathered just wanted to express their dissatisfaction. ” We know that the decisions have already been made but we are still here so that they hear our anger. We are in villages, we have gas costs, the days are long and our children undergo all these economic choices… »
