The croco club will formalize the signings of three new recruits in the afternoon: attacking midfielders Zerkane and Mousset and left-back Sy.
Three players will join Nîmes Olympique this Tuesday, January 31, the last day of the winter transfer window. President Rani Assaf, who accompanies the Crocos to Guingamp, where they will play tonight, confirmed the upcoming signing, in the afternoon, of left-back Sanasi Sy, 23, from Salernitana (Serie A) . The Franco-Senegalese defender was linked until June 2024 with the Italian club. He arrives in Nîmes, where he will sign a two and a half year contract, as part of a free transfer. The croco president also confirmed the six-month loan of Lys Mousset, 26-year-old striker, from Bochum (Bundesliga).
Zerkane, to prepare for the future
Very active, the Nîmes club, which has already enlisted, in recent days, Joseph Lopy et Guessouma Fofanadefensive midfielders, and Steve Ambri, attacking midfielder, will also recruit Mehdi Merkane (23, 1.86m). This last arrival was not specially programmed. “We took advantage of the opportunity, it’s a coup to prepare for the future,” said Mr. Assaf. Like Sy, Mehdi Merkane will commit two and a half years. Algerian international (1 selection), this right-handed attacking midfielder was trained at the hopeful pole of Vichy then at AS Monaco. In 2019, he joined the Girondins de Bordeaux, a club with which he made 33 appearances in Ligue 1. Last summer, he was loaned to Greece, to OFI Crete. A loan that came to an end, the native of Clermont returning to Gironde a month later, before terminating his contract with Bordeaux. He was therefore free and Nîmes seized the windfall.
