Nîmes: Gagliano, a new art gallery, opens with an exhibition by Philippe Pasqua

Laurie Gagliano has just opened a small contemporary art gallery on Place d’Assas. The inauguration of her first exhibition is organized on Thursday 10 November, from 18:00 to 21:00.

The age of existential questions about life. Dreams to finally realize … For Laurie Gagliano she played at 44 years old. Far from the wise and reasonable path of law studies and a career as a bank lawyer, here she is, for a few days, at the head of her art gallery. Set on the elegant Place d’Assas, “the most beautiful of Nîmes, where I dreamed without believing to settle down”smiles amid fifteen paintings by Philippe Pasqua, “including a large format oil on canvas” that slaps beautifully in this 45 m2 micro gallery.

A passion that becomes a profession

At 10 she was offered art books at Christmas, then discovered contemporary art during her studies in Paris. A revelation! And then a doubt: “I didn’t see myself doing a job, for me it was just a passion …” A passion that finally reaches her. “The bank is not vibrant, it does not arouse enthusiasm …”, she says. The bank feeds the man of her, sure, but it does not animate her! Life change is taking shape.

Laurie Gagliano takes her first steps as an art consultant with the Sète Art et patrimoine gallery to develop art in the business world. “I set foot in the art market, it opened up new possibilities for me” … which imprisonment will confirm. The young woman then decides to open her gallery. “I am trying the adventure, it is an incredible bet. They are complementary with the other existing galleries. By creating a dynamic around contemporary art, we participate in the beauty of the city”.

a new exhibition every two months

In the two rooms of his gallery, the vibrant portraits of the series schedules by Filippo Pasqua “an artist very inspired by Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud”the last room is reserved for more accessible serigraphs, numbered and signed, which allow you to discover other lesser-known artists.

Philippe Pasqua is on display until December 24th. In January Laurie Gagliano will present several artists on the theme of presence.
