Despite the heat and the health crisis, the traditional procession of the Assumption went well, this Sunday, August 15, at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Santa Cruz.
As every year on August 15, Catholics celebrate the Assumption of the Virgin Mary at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Santa-Cruz, in Nîmes. In the Mas de Mingue district, the faithful gathered despite the heat and the health crisis. This year, the ceremony was chaired by Mgr Robert Wattebled, Bishop of Nîmes, who will be replaced by Mgr Nicolas Brouwet in a few days.
« We are pleased to have Monsignor Wattebled with us and this is very important. Today we celebrate the Virgin Mary. When we organized the first edition in 2016, we were close to 300, during the previous edition we had gathered 150 people and today there are about a hundred faithful. This is largely due to the health crisis and I hope we can organize the pilgrimage for Ascension Thursday ” underlined Michel Perez, the president of the Association of Friends of Santa Cruz.
