Nikos Romanos, the 31-year-old arrested in connection with the explosion in an apartment in Ampelokipi, is being sent to prison after his apology with the agreement of the investigator and prosecutor.
According to the police authorities, he was arrested as his fingerprint was found in a plastic bag with weapons in the third floor apartment at 4 Arkadias Street.
The 31-year-old apologized for more than two hours in the face of heavy charges of a terrorist organization as being involved in the case of the explosion in an apartment in Ampelokipi, with him not accepting any of the charges attributed to him.
The process was carried out with a strong police force in the courts, while many friends and sympathizers of the accused had gathered early on, as a sign of his support.
What did Nikos Romanos support?
The accused in his apologetic memorandum denied all the criminal acts that led him to face justice again.
“I vehemently deny any accusation against me. I have no relationship with my co-accused, they were never people I had even socialized with and I have not participated in any of the acts attributed to me. My only involvement with the case file is a fingerprint of mine in a plastic bag, a mobile object which is not connected to any other finding in the case file” he allegedly argued before the investigator.
According to the same information, he presented all those elements to demonstrate that he is not a fugitive suspect and has never been a fugitive, essentially requesting that the extreme measure of temporary detention not be imposed on him but that he be released with the well-known bracelet.
“The circumstances of my life certify beyond any doubt that I will also appear in court and in the execution of any decision I will be submitted to. I have absolutely no reason not to appear in the audience, since only by my presence there will I succeed in proving my innocence. My goal and primary concern throughout the development of this case was and is the proof of the truth and therefore of my innocence”.
“I have been tested with electronic surveillance in the past, at the time when I was a prisoner and I attended my classes at the TEI and I never created the slightest problem or even suspected that I could take any illegal action by violating the conditions. At the same time, as you well know and as many representatives of the police state publicly, both I and people who have employed the authorities in the past are in a constant state of surveillance. There is no way that I would commit any criminal act,” the defendant allegedly claims.
“I was released from prison in 2019 having served the terms stipulated by the law and received a conditional discharge by appearing in person at the Psychiko Police Department where my permanent residence was also, twice a month. From the first moment I have strictly adhered to the conditions and I am providing you with a certificate from the Psychiko Police Department for his recovery. At the same time, I decided to work immediately and found a job in a cellar, as a warehouse assistant, but due to the quarantine that was imposed as a measure in March 2020, I stopped. Even today, I still maintain contact with the owner, whose responsible statement I am handling, and we are even discussing working together again, with my placement in an administrative position.”
Tension outside the Evelpidon courts
After the announcement of the decision outside the courts of the Former Evelpidon School, tension prevailed as a large number of people had gathered early on to declare their support for Nikos Romanos.
