“Will we spend 50 of the 100 days until the European elections on our own issues?”
With this question, Mr Nikos Pappas in fact, it was written in favor of the proposal which argues that elections should not be held for the presidency of the party.
“We can and must find a solution. A solution that will guarantee a coordinated course. Which will not hurt any side of the party. A solution in which each and every one of us will be able to find himself and his opinions” he said and then spoke about Olga Gerovasilis:
“We have traveled with Olga Gerovasilis for many years. He graces our lineup. And in the critical moment, in every critical moment it served, serves and will serve our collective plan and goal. He must have a special place next to Stefanos in this battle. He can serve the party from any position. She is the most experienced in parliament,” he said characteristically.
Most interpreted this statement as a proposal for Olga Gerovasili to take over the position of Parliamentary Group president.
“There are no rivals in this room. There are different opinions and we cannot say that whoever expresses them wants the party’s harm. If these perceptions prevail, the party will shrink,” he then noted.
“We supported Stefanos on the basis of a political agreement, for the content of which we still have steps to take. He didn’t ask for a blank check. He would never get a blank check. No one asks for or receives a blank check. When we put ourselves in the judgment of the members, we ask for an order to implement decisions, we ask for responsibility, we demand from ourselves accountability” he emphasized and added:
“It is good to recognize our collective mistakes. Like the deficit of political collective functioning. Stefanos did it too. And he has the initiative and the first reason to overcome these problems and go to the European elections and cut the cough of 41%”.
The four propositions
Nikos Pappas then tabled four proposals for the next day of the party:
“I propose: 1. To reconstitute on Monday an executive office that will take the party into the next battle as a political center, staffed and efficient. Composite and inclusive. 2. It is the responsibility of the executive office and Stefanos to come up with the proposals to complete the transformation of the party that we left in the middle. 3. To come up with a studied and composed proposal for the statutory changes. These changes should be submitted to the judgment of the body of the permanent conference, which does not need to be held for life. 4. To immediately start the procedures for the compilation of the European ballot”.
