“We at Pratto value as our main task the rebirth of the country, the reconstruction of the democratic faction, the strengthening of the left of patriotism. Away from arrogance, narcissism, and authoritarianism, away from decadence, cynicism and the tyrannical methods of the Right,” he said. He added that “it is imperative that the Mitsotakis regime go, that the privileges of their partners in the oligarchy be cut, that parasitism and corruption be struck, that there be a fair distribution of income and property.”
He noted that it is imperative to regenerate society, “to defend public goods, to pledge together the progressive forces of this place to support and empower the fight against precision, primary production, social welfare, access to responsibility and quality energy and shelter in human care and health system, in popular education”.
Mr. Kotzias proposed to the Congress “immediately all of us and jointly commit that a government of renaissance that will come, will abolish every unconstitutional law imposed by the current regime”.
In particular, he said, “let’s agree that it will abolish all this New Democracy legislative swag for control, degradation and strangulation of academic freedoms and public universities. Repeal by the next progressive government of all authoritarian and regressive changes to criminal codes.”
He noted that “in order to achieve this, we need to study more and learn from history, to study the right of the people, the needs of the country, to formulate our proposals in a documented and in-depth manner”. “The left and the entire progressive space needs relationships of trust without wavering, with a firm orientation to the utilization of all democratic forces, and I’m afraid we are lagging behind. We must take important steps in the restoration of a democratic dialogue between the different progressive forces, intensify the effort to form fronts against the problems of everyday life”, he noted.
He added that “together with the dialogue we will be able to form what is urgent, a front of resistance to conscription, a large democratic and left front”, because “Mitsotakis and the Greek preservation must be defeated”.
