Veteran football player Nikos Georgeas was sentenced to six months in prison for making a false statement regarding the 2013 Olympiakos game with Veria, which had ended 3-0 in favor of the home team. The former defender of AEK and Veria was found guilty by a decision of the Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Athens as the court ruled that no Olympiakos player confirmed to the defendant the manipulation of the match!
Georgeas, who was sentenced to six months in prison for perjury, had said, among other things, in his testimony at the “Gang” trial that he had testified as a witness: “We were getting ready to leave the locker room and Lanaris comes in and tells us, “I am in the unpleasant position of telling you that we have to lose 3-0. Farmer: No.
Nikos Georgeas had also said: “Usually the coach would talk to us and go out to the field. Kalaitzidis came out and after 1-2 minutes Lanaris entered the locker room. All he said was “anyone who doesn’t want to come out”. Kalaitzidis told me “play”, I told him “if I play I will eat red, I will not sit and eat three goals”.
