The German-Italian linebacker Nikolas Knoblauch is entering his third year with the Stuttgart Surge and has signed a contract for the 2024 season.
Knoblauch, who is also known in Italy by the surname Suppa, has experienced some ups and downs with the Stuttgart Surge. When he was signed by the Stuttgart Surge in 2022, he had to end the season early due to an injury. From the sideline, Knoblauch then saw a miserable 12-loss season. He remained loyal to the Surge in the following 2023 season and, after a very successful season, reached the final of the European League of Football in September.
The skills of the 1.78 m tall and 100 kg linebacker are in demand all over Europe! This is demonstrated by his appearances for various top European teams in recent years. Knoblauch was trained at the Kuchen Mammuts from 2013 to 2014 and at the Holzgerlingen Twister in 2015. During his involvement with the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns from 2016 to 2019, Knoblauch played in the Italian Football League for the Ancona Dolphins in 2018. He spent 2020 in Denmark with the Triangle Razorbacks and in Sweden with the Örebro Black Knights. 2021 was an intense year for Knoblauch with appearances in four teams from four different countries: he played for the Badalona Dracs in Spain, for the Stockholm Mean Machines in Sweden, for the Frankfurt Galaxy in Germany/ELF and for the Oslo Vikings in Norway . This makes it particularly clear how the teams in the staggered leagues are vying for Nikolas Knoblauch and his skills. After his stint with the Fuengirola Potros in Spain in 2022, the Stuttgart Surge secured the services of the linebacker for the 2022, 2023 and now also 2024 seasons!
The German-Italian, who was born in Schwäbisch Gmünd, is one of the top players in Europe, which can also be seen in his successes. Knoblauch already has a few trophies in his trophy case: winner of the German Bowl 2017 and 2018 with the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, winner of the Spanish LNFA Bowl 2021 with the Badalona Dracs, winner of the European League of Football 2021 with the Frankfurt Galaxy, in the same year still European champions with Italy and winners of the Norwegian Football League with the Oslo Vikings. There are also numerous personal awards such as German Bowl MVP 2018, Tackle Leader of the Italian Football League 2018, All Star Linebacker of the Danish League 2020 as well as Defensive Player of the Year of the Triangle Razorbacks 2020 and Tackle Leader of the Swedish League 2021.
Knoblauch’s hunting instinct is far from satisfied and, especially after the last final defeat in 2023, the linebacker is full of ambition and only has one thing in mind:
