A week ago he opened for games in Sweden.
Now the former NHL goalkeeper, Niklas Svedberg, has been presented by Björklöven.
– We are talking to some clubs in Sweden, he then told hockeysverige.se.
After a good start to the season, the announcement finally came. The Italian ICEHL club Bolzano parted ways with Niklas Svedberg and shortly afterwards he expressed his surprise in an interview with hockeysverige.se.
– I was surprised and disappointed, he said then – and also opened the door to a return to Sweden:
– We have a few tracks going on and I want to make a decision fairly quickly, as I’m up and running and in good shape. We have some tracks out in Europe, but we are also talking to some clubs in Sweden. I hope we can finish something in the next few days, but I’m not sure what it will be yet.
A week later, the well-deserved 34-year-old has signed for Björklöven.
– We are getting an experienced goalkeeper who completes the goalkeeper side for the rest of the season, says Björklöven’s sporting director Per Kenttä on club website.
Svedberg has previously represented MoDo, Brynäs, Timrå and Djurgården. He went over to North America in 2012 and managed over 150 games in the AHL and 19 in the NHL. Then there were games in the KHL and the national team before he returned to Sweden. Now he is back again after adventures in Germany and Italy.
The contract with Björklöven is valid until the end of the season.
