“I was at the world premiere of Doctor Strange in Hollywood a few weeks ago,” said Nikkie de Jager. “As I left the room, a woman came up to me and said: you are the perfect woman for a role that I have to cast. It was a lady from a large company, she had, among other things, Suicide Squad created. So I said: I’ll give you my number!” But when Nikkie said she had a Dutch number, the offer lapsed. “The Netherlands? Well, never mind. Apparently I wasn’t perfect for the part after all.”

It seems great to the presenter and makeup artist to act in a film once. “But if I do it, then I want to do it well. So not with a small role, but big. And preferably internationally.” Nikkie has often had contact with Dutch filmmakers who had her in mind for a film. “But it was always something very small. Or that I thought: should this really be my first role? Then I’d rather wait a little longer.”

In Cannes, Nikkie saw the opening film of the festival on Wednesday, the zombie comedy Cut!, about an overwrought director who shoots a horror film. “It’s a crazy movie, I almost considered leaving. But luckily I didn’t. I’m also a big fan of horror. When I was younger, I always fell asleep with it, it made me very calm down.”
