People’s Artist of the RSFSR, film director Nikita Mikhalkov does not believe that the works of People’s Artist of the USSR Eldar Ryazanov can be called “cinema”. He stated this in interview Nadezhda Sagittarius.

“I cannot call Ryazanov’s cinema cinema. This is not a movie for me,” he said.

At the same time, he noted that Ryazanov’s films are well structured in terms of drama, they are “good and fun to watch,” but cinema is different.

“Cinema is a living thing. Cinema is breathing, cinema is music,” the director tried to explain.

Mikhalkov noted that Ryazanov’s best film for him is the hit “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath,” where “everything coincided in terms of wonderful dramaturgy and very good performing skills.”

At the same time, answering a question about the main modern director, he named Zhory Kryzhovnikova.

“Kryzhovnikov is a serious, thoughtful and very professional director,” Mikhalkov emphasized.

He also noted the picture Anna Melikyan “Anna’s Feelings”

As reported EADaily, previously co-author of the script for the series “The Boy’s Word. Blood on the asphalt” Andrei Zolotarev spoke about the content of the scenes that were cut out from the film.
