68-year-old Nikas Safronov rewrote his will again, deciding to divide the property between his children and the state.
The artist gave an interview to the program “When everyone is home“and he said that he does not want to support his heirs, but at the same time he is not willing to preserve his memory.
“I plan to leave the main things to the state – an apartment, books, pictures. When Picasso left, three institutions distributed his estate, and Chagall shared everything during his lifetime. I have it almost in half: on the one hand, I wrote a will, on the other, I want the flat to go to the city. This is a matter of preserving the heritage,” explained Safronov.
Nikas Stepanovich hopes that there will be such a fan of his works who will be able to tell future generations all the nuances of his life.
Let’s remember that the artist has six sons from different women: Stefano, Landin, Yuri, Luka, Dmitry and Alexander.
Safronov tries to keep in touch with all the heirs and help them financially. “One of my sons, Landin, born to a German woman, Katrin, wants to come to Russia to study Russian. He really likes our culture and wants to know it more deeply. Landin now lives and works in Austria. Recently, my son started earning very good money. As far as I know, now he even supports his mother financially,” said Nikas Stepanovich.
