Nijmegen oncologist made serious mistakes in 45 patients Inland

The oncologist involved was suspended in August last year, when complaints from patients and fellow specialists about her functioning came in. At that time, the cancer specialist had already worked in the Nijmegen hospital for seven years.

Radboud university medical center wanted to discharge the doctor in December, but the subdistrict court put a stop to that. He thought that the results of research into 288 patient files of the specialist should be waited for. The judge found that “the hospital has insufficiently elaborated the investigation.”

Professor of patient safety Jan Klein spoke at EenVandaag of “a very serious situation. In fact, you are not authorized to work as a doctor. ” The doctor herself said that she did her “stinking best” not to provide irresponsible care. She was on the brink of burnout and a divorce was going on at home.

An appeal lodged by the hospital against the earlier decision is to be lodged with the Court of Appeal in Arnhem on 1 July.
