Níjar, Los Palacios and Vícar, the poorest municipalities in Spain

Madrid / Seville, May 26 (EFE) .- Níjar (Almería), with an average annual net income per inhabitant of 6,755 euros; Los Palacios and Villafranca (Seville), with 7,027 euros, and Vícar (Almería), with 7,051 euros, are the poorest municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants in Spain, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The study also reports on other indicators such as unemployment and highlights that Linares (Jaén), with 30.9%; La Línea de la Concepción (Cádiz), with 27.4% and Córdoba, with 26.7%, are the municipalities with the highest unemployment rates.

Pozuelo de Alarcón (5.6%), Majadahonda, Las Rozas de Madrid and Sant Cugat del Vallès (all three with 6.3%), in addition to San Sebastián (6.7%) are the cities that register the lowest values unemployment.

Regarding the highest activity rates, the Madrid cities of Rivas-Vaciamadrid (72.1%), Valdemoro (71.1%) and Parla (68.9%) stand out, while on the opposite side are León and Ferrol (both with 50.7%), Cádiz (50.8%) and Avilés and Gijón (51% both).

Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), Getxo (Vizcaya) and Boadilla del Monte (Madrid) are the richest municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants with an average annual net income per inhabitant of 25,903 euros, 20,147 and 20,103 euros, respectively-

The fourth richest municipality is Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona) with 19,591 euros, and, after it, are six other Madrid towns Las Rozas (19,202), Torrelodones (19,041), Alcobendas (18,925), Tres Cantos (18,227) and Villaviciosa de Odón (17,294).

To find the first provincial capital, you have to go down to position number 11 where San Sebastián is located (17,187). Madrid (15,930), Barcelona (15,755) and Bilbao (15,137) are also among the top 25.

These data correspond to the Urban Indicators publication, which collects information on the living conditions of a certain number of territorial areas in order to know and measure their quality of life.

It also includes an analysis of the average annual income in neighborhoods and indicates that the ten richest are in Madrid and Barcelona, ​​the first of which is El Viso (43,319 euros), followed by Recoletos (40,613 euros) and Piovera (36,296 euros) , all three in the Madrid community.

For its part, the lowest incomes, below 6,000 euros, are located in Seville: the Polígono Sur neighborhood of the South district, the Los Pajaritos and Amate neighborhoods of the Cerro-Amate district and partially the Colores / Entreparques neighborhood, as well as in the zone 4-A of Alicante, which is formed for the most part by the Juan XXIII neighborhood.

Another indicator that is collected is that of life expectancy and in this field five municipalities exceeded 85 years, all of them in Madrid: Pozuelo de Alarcón (86), Majadahonda (85.6), Rivas-Vaciamadrid (85.2) , Alcorcón (85.29 and Las Rozas (85.2).

At the opposite extreme, La Línea de la Concepción (79.5) was the only one of the 126 cities studied with a life expectancy at birth of less than 80 years.

Regarding the number of children per woman, Melilla (2.27), Ceuta (1.75) and Lorca (1.66) have the highest averages, while the lowest averages are in the Canary Islands, specifically in San Cristóbal de La Laguna (0.95 children per woman), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (0.99) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (1)

Regarding metropolitan areas, the INE confirms that those with the largest population are Madrid (with 6.88 million people), Barcelona (5.04 million) and Valencia (1.75 million), while, by activity sector Avilés (with 28.7% employment in industry), Alcoy (23.8%) and Sagunto (23.1%) stand out as the main industrial areas.

Marbella (2.9%), Mérida (3.1%) and Almería (3.3%) register the lowest weights of industrial employment.

Regarding the proportion of the employed population in the Services sector, Mérida (91.3%), Toledo (90.8%) and Benidorm (88.1%) register the highest percentages compared to Avilés (63.2%), Lorca (65%) and Ponferrada (68.2%), where it has the least weight. EFE
