Nightmarish start lowered the Swedes in the relay

Mona Brorsson was given responsibility for the first leg of the relay and in the standing shooting her legs were shaky. It showed on the board, when she only managed four hits with extra shots and a penalty round was a fact.

– It was horrible. It’s so damn boring for the team as well. I’m glad it wasn’t two (penalty rounds) because I was so shaky. The body feels a little better and then you want to join (in the track). It was at the expense of the shooting. I have so much lactic acid and it vibrates in my legs, says Brorsson after his stretch.

The three other legs gave much more hope for the upcoming WC relay. Anna Magnusson shot full and Hanna Öberg got through with the help of three extra shots, which made the team climb higher in the results list. Öberg climbed from 12th to eighth place, but the absolute top was still far away.

Persson: “I had to sharpen up a bit”

Linn Persson replaced Elvira Öberg on the last stretch and a full shot in the prone was followed by four hits, and it then required two extra shots to get the last gap down.

– I really thought I fired the last shot in the original series and thought: “Now I throw on my rifle and go away”. But then I saw that it was a boom. So then I had to start over with the reserve shots and first there I was a little annoyed that there wasn’t a hit there before, so I didn’t really do that job but I had to sharpen up a bit in the last, says Persson about the last shot.

She then finished seventh, which was also Sweden’s position in the relay.

But it wasn’t just Sweden that had a hard time on the dike. France were top in the first two legs, but two penalties in the third meant they too fell down the table. Instead, Norway was able to grab hold of the lead, which was enough all the way to victory. Germany took second place while Italy moved into third place.
