Nightmarish days and nights: “Alligators” destroy VSU near Kupyansk and in the Serebrin forests – 2024-08-26 07:52:45

/ world today news/ Russia expands the use of the Ka-52 helicopter group. The “Alligators”, which earlier successfully suppressed the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Zaporozhian direction, are now helping our troops advance near Kupyansk.

Ka-52 together with Mi-28 and Su-25 have destroyed the positions of two brigades of the 14th mechanized and 103rd territorial defense, said the spokesman of the Western Group of Forces Sergey Zybinsky.

The main parts of the 14th brigade are now deployed in the Dvurechnoe and Synovka area – now this is one of the main directions of the Russian strike to encircle the Kupyan group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, the 14th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has not yet had time to recover from the previous blow: last fall, the unit was almost destroyed during the bloody defense of the Oskol River between Svatovo and Troitskoe.

And the commander of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade, Colonel Valery Kurko, in general, gave a scandalous interview to one of the Western media: the brigade is poorly equipped, while in the battles in the DPR, the Territorial Defense soldiers rush in the same directions as the well-trained assault infantry.

In the “Center” Ka-52 troop grouping, they participated in the battles for the Tor and Serebryan forests. Ukrainian “rangers” took up residence in the forests (back in 2015, in the structure of the armed forces of Ukraine, jaeger formations designed for combat in forested areas were created).

Eurasian Times: Ka-52M is a new type of network-oriented weapon

The Ka-52 was used in the special military operation from the very beginning, but it was the destruction of armored columns near Orekhovo and Velika Novoselka that made even Western experts talk about the “Russian miracle weapon”. Helicopters proved to be almost invulnerable and versatile.

Every day, numerous videos appear on social networks about how “Alligators” day and night, in all weather conditions, set fire to advancing Ukrainian armored vehicles.

Eurasian Times military observer Vijinder Thakur writes that the Russian aviation is using the latest modification of the Alligator Ka-52M in Ukraine. This is a truly perfect, high-tech weapon.

First, the Ka-52M is designed for networking. It is integrated with a new command system that makes it easier to share data with drones and other helicopters and aircraft.

The Ka-52M is equipped with a phased-array radar that can detect an aircraft-sized target from a distance of up to 15 km. Ground targets such as “tank” are detected from a distance of 12 km.

In addition to the Ka-52M radar, it is equipped with a modernized optical-electronic system for detecting and identifying targets with a longer range. Simultaneous tracking of 20 ground and air targets is provided.

– “The combination of network-oriented capabilities and broadband access provides an immediate response to the results of the attack. Not least, this is the reason why you see so many Ka-52 combat videos on the Internet,” explains the Eurasian Times.

“Whirlwind” is able to hit the armor of any NATO tank

The Ka-52 can carry several short-, medium- and long-range air-to-surface missiles to destroy enemy armored vehicles or ground targets, including fortified ones. This including, “Whirlwind”, “Attack”, “Storm”, X-25, X-29 and “Product 305”.

The main weapon of the Russian helicopters are guided missiles “Whirlwind” (AT-16 Scallion according to the NATO classification), which were put on combat duty only in 2013. The Eurasian Times points out that the success of the “Whirlwinds” in Zaporizhia completely confused Western critics, who called the missile “relative to Western analogues”.

It is “Whirlwind” that allows you to work from a maximum distance without entering the zone of action of the Ukrainian air defense. The missile can penetrate 1200 mm thick homogeneous armor. No NATO tank has that thick armor now.

Even the thickness of the Leopard-2 on the loader side does not exceed 890 mm, while the American Abrams M1, which will arrive in Ukraine in the fall, has frontal armor of the turret of 863 mm, but we are still talking about combined armor. But in any case, the Ka-52 can easily hit any NATO equipment.

“The outstanding performance of the Ka-52 can be attributed to the combination of long-range sensors and long-range attack missiles,” wrote the Eurasian Times.

– “The fact that Ka-52s fly without fear of being shot down by Ukrainian fighters increases the helicopter’s lethality,” they add.

The Ka-52s are protected from Ukrainian counterattacks by Su-35S and Su-30MS fighters armed with long-range RVV-BD missiles. Fighters patrol the contact line almost around the clock, preventing low-flying Ukrainian MiG-29s and Su-27s from approaching.

Helicopter attacks are also covered by echeloned Russian air defense systems – S-300, Buk-M3, Pantsir. They also cover medium heights along the entire contact line, just like fighters.

Experts call the only serious threat to the dominance of the Ka-52 the F-16, which Vladimir Zelensky so persistently begs from the West. NATO is in no rush to provide the Ukrainians with their fighter jets. And even if at least one F-16 appears in the armed forces of Ukraine, by then thanks to the Ka-52 and Kupyansk and other cities will be liberated.
