Nightmare test drives, wrecked dream cars: massive damage

For car enthusiasts, the news we are about to deliver is a “tragedy”. Two separate models, from the same manufacturer, Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance and Mercedes-Benz SL 55, were completely destroyed. Over a test driver in Kochi, India, the drivers could not contain their excitement and now it will be very strange to find out who will pay the consequences of the accident. Both emblems of luxury and advanced technology, the flagship vehicles suffered irreparable damage in a series that was as unexpected as it was devastating.

Clash of the Titans

Although it dates back a few months, the program was only recently brought to general knowledge on social media, a source of disbelief and regret among internet users. According to the reconstruction of local media, the duties should be placed on the driver Performance Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SEwho seems to have lost control of the car until it caused the incident recorded by the pictures.

Driven by an engine capable of incredible acceleration, the fireball would have hit a high section of old railway, located just off the main road. Hence the domino effect: after hitting the part of the rail, the GT 63 SE Performance ended up against a Hyundai Accent, which was traveling in the same direction.

As a result of the accident the vehicle was completely lost, which attacked the opposite lane, which ended the race separately against the other jewel of the Stuttgart manufacturer, the SL 55. The latter did not have a chance, then engaged in a test trial. The nightmarish scene was immortalized and shared on the web. In all likelihood, due to the terrible conditions, the destination will be one and the same: the garbage yard.

To make matters worse, both examples were test driven by the same Mercedes dealer for the first time. We don’t have to think about what the workers were thinking: the worst situation (almost) turned out to be, as if they had fallen into a horror movie.

Although the level of the accident is important, luckily the people who are driving are they did not suffer any serious injuries. All participants were transferred to the hospital so that medical staff could avoid complications. With some minor bruises removed, they emerged unharmed and can count themselves lucky.

Calculation of damage

In a sense, the situation is bad. Between the driver’s side front wheel, the suspension and the braking system, the GT 63 SE Performance has lost that aura of grandeur we’ve come to know (and love) it by. On the other hand, the SL 55 is not so damaged, but it did not escape the “cyclone” either. In this case, it is the passenger side that has been worse: the braking system, the suspension and various elements of the bodywork are the legacy, hand in hand.

The final report is a blow to the heart for the seller. Moreover, compared to other countries, the cost of luxury models in India is even higher. The Mercedes-Benz SL is priced around 267,000 euros, while the performance Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE is worth around 340,000 euros. Numbers in hand, the total amount reaches one digit more than 600,000 euroshas gone up in smoke, preventing “miracles”.
