A terrible testimony for the public in the courtroom, who relived with him his awakening at 5 a.m., a gaping wound in his stomach, but also the moment when he learned that Gaétan, known as Daniel — whom he considered like his little brother -, had succumbed to the same stab wounds carried out by his assailant.
That night, after spending the evening with friends in a bar in the Marais in Paris, Fred and Gaétan return with a stranger they met at a bus stop. This is Sami, this 22-year-old homeless Tunisian who is appearing all this week for murder and attempted murder, incurring life imprisonment.
“When I realized it was my intestines, I passed out”
Back at the home of Daniel’s grandmother, with the two friends, he has sex with Fred, before stabbing the two men. Despite his attempt to escape through the window, Daniel dies immediately. Very alcoholic, Fred wakes up with his stomach split open. “I felt something coming out. When I realized it was my intestines, I passed out, ”he confides in front of the Assize Court.
He recounts the threats of the man armed with a knife facing him. ” He told me : Give me some money or I’ll punch you a second hole. I was scared. I called Daniel to give him my wallet, but he didn’t answer me. »
Fred ends up locking himself in the room he was stabbed in, blocks the door with a chest of drawers, and waits for the sound of the door opening. “When he finally left, I prayed to God that I would get up and go to the landline in the living room. I managed to call the police. Me and Daniel, we were the good ones, we didn’t deserve this! »
Sami’s genetic fingerprints, found at Gaëtan’s home, will allow him to be arrested at the Aligre market (Paris XII), a dozen days after the facts. Two close friends who liked to go out every night

“Gaétan, he was not cut out for war,” recalls Dimitri, bartender at El Hombre. He was our mascot, very sunny, very exuberant but not the type to pick a fight. Fred, he often played the mediator. “Both of them were rather naive, too nice,” recalls Philippe, a friend of the two attacked men. It was he who was on the line with Gaétan until the “shrilly, high-pitched” cry, uttered that night when a knife blade of more than 15 cm stuck in his stomach.
Since the facts, Fred lives a completely different life, described at the hearing this Tuesday evening. “I have trouble walking, I can’t go back to work, I’m scared. I can no longer take public transport. I don’t go to the pool anymore, I can’t show my belly with two holes and the scar. Before that, I was happy. I miss Daniel very much. Every night, I only sleep an hour or two, and I dream of him. He calls me from his grave and tells me to join him.
