Symbolizing the essence of the sea and its diverse nature, all evening visitors will be able to enjoy a specially created video installation filmed on 16mm black and white negative film. Its author is Elina Matvejeva. Let’s enjoy mood music performed by singer Alice Joste.
Known and lesser known music memories will be taken care of by the group “JUUK” – composed of Edgars Šubrovskis, Sniedze Prauliņa and Oskars Jansons. On the other hand, electronic ambient romance will be provided by Ieva Matveja.
Alise Joste has been active on the Latvian music scene for more than 10 years, and during this time she has released three critically acclaimed and award-winning albums. On the evening of August 26, Alice will perform songs from the latest album “Šākātā” as well as older compositions.
The group “JUUK” cooperates with well-known musicians of the alternative scene, who are united by a passion for alternative, dark folk and country music, which is rarely heard in Latvia. Unlike many other collectives, the group “JUUK” has three songwriters and soloists – Sniedze Prauliņa (voice, flute), Edgars Šubrovskis (voice, guitars, bass) and Oskars Jansons (voice, guitars, banjo).
Ieva Matveja will close the evening with refreshing electronic sounds. As the artist herself describes – ambient romanticism, an atmospheric soundscape for meek contemplation.
In order to provide a wider circle of residents with access to the “Old Fire Night” event on the Staldzene steep bank, PSIA “Ventspils Reiss” will organize an additional bus trip at 20.30 from Ābolu Street stop in Gāliņciem. Back on the return route Staldzene – Ābolu street at 23.50
But for those who have access to bicycle transport, we invite you to come to the event using the newly created bicycle path, which extends from the city all the way to the steep bank of Staldzene.
The event is organized by the Ventspils Culture Center, supported by the municipality of Ventspils.
The event is held with the support of the project competition “Kurzemes culture program 2023” of the State Cultural Capital Fund’s target program “Latvian Historical Lands Development Program”.
