Night mayor wants a museum about nightlife

New York. According to the mayor of the night Ariel Palitz, a museum is to be built in New York to illuminate the nightlife of the metropolis. In this way, the “diverse history of nightlife” and its importance as a “cultural driving force” can be highlighted, according to a report published on Thursday by the responsible city authority, which Palitz has been in charge of since 2018.

Responsible for clubs, bars and restaurants

The 160-page long report provides an overview of the state of the city’s nightlife, also with regard to the effects of the corona pandemic, and makes suggestions for improvements.

The night mayor is responsible, among other things, for the smooth interaction of city authorities and clubs, bars, restaurants and cafes. Palitz ran the Club Sutra in Manhattan from 2004 to 2014 and sat on the New York City Council for three years during this time.

Since then she has been advising entrepreneurs on implementing projects in the nightlife of the metropolis. Similar night mayor posts exist in several other cities around the world.
