Two night fishermen were attacked in the night from Friday to Saturday along the canal near Safaripark Beekse Bergen in Hilvarenbeek. The men were beaten with a broken bottle, the law enforcement.
The incident took place around 1.45 a.m. on Saturday. The victims stated that they were ambushed in their sleep by two men and two women.
Out of nowhere, one of the victims was hit with a bottle. The other fisherman came to his aid and was also beaten.
A witness to the incident saw the suspects flee in a white boat with an outboard motor. A pool float hung behind the boat, the witness said.
Despite an extensive search, the police were unable to find the suspects. The fishermen were taken to hospital with cuts.
