Night current: Effective from May 1st during summer hours – 2024-05-01 07:52:06

From May 1, the nightly household electricity tariff for the summer period comes into force. As announced by DEDDIE, the night tariff will be valid until October 31, 2024 with continuous hours from 23:00 to 07:00 daily.

Consumers who wish to receive further information on this matter can contact their supplier.

How to tell if you have a night current

You are a new user (tenant/owner) of a property and want to know if you have a “nighter”, there are many ways to find out.

First by checking the bill you receive. For example, on the front of the bill, the type of invoice is indicated, i.e. INVOICE: C1N Household Invoice.

On the back side of the CLEARING bill, “the fixed night charge” is shown in detail and right below the charge for the kilowatt-hours (kWh) that have been consumed during the night hours. On the back side of the CLEARING account (top left) the meter readings are shown in detail.

The second way is to check your home installation. In many cases there is an indicator light on the home’s installation panel, which is connected to the additional service conduit. If the light comes on during the hours of application of the night tariff, then you are using the night tariff.

Finally, you can see if you have a dual recording meter, i.e. if there are two counters on your meter. One is marked K and the other is marked M. Then observe if, during the night tariff application hours, your meter records consumption in the register (counter) marked M.

In any case, citizens can contact their electricity provider to see if they have activated the night electricity service, which offers lower charges.
