Niamey, May 3 (ANP) – Continuing their work in plenary session of the First ordinary session for the year 2023, known as the session of the laws of the National Assembly, the Nigerien parliamentarians, this Wednesday, May 03, 2023, examined and pass 5 laws ratifying the ordinances of loan agreements.
These are the laws ratifying the ordinance of February 10, 2023 authorizing the ratification of the Agreement for an amount not exceeding seven hundred and forty thousand Islamic dinars (740,000DI), or approximately 1,000,000 US dollars. United States of America from the ordinary resources of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and one million United States dollars (1,000,000 USD) from the resources of the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) , signed on December 4, 2022 in Paris, for the financing-of-the-regional-soil-fertility-mapping-program, between the Republic of Niger and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
There is also the law ratifying the ordinance of February 10, 2023 authorizing the ratification of the Millennium Challenge Compact Agreement and the Program Implementation Agreement, for a maximum amount not exceeding Three hundred and two million of United States of America dollars (302,000,000 USD), signed on December 14, 2022 in Washington, DC (United States of America), between the Republic of Niger and the United States of America, by the through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), for the financing of the Program aimed at reducing poverty through economic growth in Niger.
Also, the Deputies ratified the law ratifying the Ordinance of March 2, 2023 authorizing the ratification of the Loan Agreement for a maximum amount equivalent to thirty-three million three hundred and thirty thousand Units of Account (UA 33,330,000) and the Grant of an amount not exceeding the equivalent of eight hundred and ten thousand Units of Account (UA 810,000), signed on December 14, 2022 in Niamey, between the Republic of Niger on the one hand, and the African Development Bank and the African Development Fund (acting as administrators of the TRANSITION SUPPORT FACILITY) on the other hand, for the financing of the Project for the development of solar power plants and improvement of access to electricity (RANA).
They also adopted the law ratifying the Ordinance of March 2, 2023 authorizing the ratification of the Loan Agreement for a maximum amount equivalent to thirty-five million two hundred and ten thousand Units of Account (UA 35,210,000) and the Grant No. 2100155042172 for an amount not exceeding the equivalent of twenty-nine million eight hundred and ten thousand Units of Account (UA 29,810,000), signed on December 14, 2022 in Niamey, between the Republic of Niger and the African Development Fund (FAD), for the financing of the Project for the Development of Solar Power Plants and Improvement of Access to Electricity (RANA).
Finally, the parliamentarians examined and adopted the law ratifying the ordinance authorizing the ratification of the loan agreement for an amount of seven billion (7000 000 000) CFA francs and the DON N management agreement. ° 2022104/DON FVC NG 2023 07 00 in the amount of fifteen billion nine hundred six million (15,906,000,000) CFA francs, signed on January 31, 2023 in Niamey between the Republic of Niger and the West African Development Bank ( BOAD), for the financing of the hydro-agricultural development project with intelligent agricultural practices that are resilient to climate change (PAHA-AIC).
Finally, it should be noted that the work of this plenary took place in the presence of the Minister Delegate to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, in charge of African integration, Mr. Youssouf Mohamed Elmouctar, and the Minister of Communication, in charge of Relations with the Institutions of the Republic, Mr Mahamadou Laoualy Dan Dano.
Work in plenary sessions, it is indicated, will resume on Thursday, May 04, 2023, with the agenda of the Examination and the vote of five (05) draft laws of ratifications.
