In an African country, 3.8 million people have completed the full vaccination course, or less than 2% of the population.
The Nigerian authorities have decided to destroy about 1 million doses of vaccines against the coronavirus COVID-19, which have expired. On Monday, December 13, reports Reuters with reference to the head of the National Agency for the Development of Primary Health Care of Nigeria, Faisal Shuaiba.
According to him, Nigeria agreed to accept vaccines against COVID-19 from donor countries with a shelf life that was close to the limit. This was done in the face of drug shortages and in order to try to use them quickly. But there was still not enough time to apply the entire vaccine. The exact date for the destruction of 1 million doses is now being negotiated.
To date, 11.2 million doses of COVID vaccines have been used in Nigeria. Only 3.8 million people, or 1.9% of the country’s population, have completed the full vaccination course.
Let us remind you that in Ukraine dispose of 400 thousand doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, which had an expiration date of the end of October. The Ministry of Health explained why this vaccine was not used in time.
