The management of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has announced that the 2023-2024 season will start on August 26.
The draws for the 2023-2024 season and annual general meeting will take place on August 17, a week before the start of the season, announced Gbenga Elegbeleye, president of the Nigeria Premier League.
Elegbeleye, who left a meeting with club owners in Abuja on Thursday evening, said all clubs have declared their intention to meet the date and will be ready to take action.
“They have all accepted the date and will start preparing for the new season. They are all 100% ready.explained Elegbeleye.
Rivers United chief executive and NPL club owners spokesman Okey Kpalukwu also commented on the clubs’ preparation. He said the clubs are ready for the kick-off date, while making it clear that it was the responsibility of the board and league officials to ensure the Championship goes ahead as planned.
