Next Saturday the 19th, an exhibition will open to the public in Algeciras focused on a type of art that has recently emerged but is widely accepted in today’s stressed world. the algecirena Nieves Buscato will show us his works Zentangle y Doodle Arttwo variants of an art designed to lead to meditation.
Let’s start with those somewhat exotic names of its main variants: Zentangle is the union of the word Zen with the English word tanglewhich means “entanglement”. It means “meditation in the entanglement”. The other modality, Doodle Art, can be translated as “art of doodles”. At first, both names do not suggest anything attractive, but the results are surprising for its beauty and interest. This type of art leads to meditation in two waysthe first is by concentrating one’s gaze on it, using it for meditation in the manner of the well-known mandalas, and the other way is that by executing it in total concentration, one can reach a state of meditation and serenity closely related to yoga.
Who brings us these things? Behind the pseudonym NIBUGO, with disturbing Lovecraftian echoes, hides Nieves Buscató Gómez from Algeciras, as restless as passionate about artistic-literary creationbecause apart from being co-founder and president of the Academus cultural group, she has been a member of the second section of the IECG for years and is secretary of the La Trocha association, heralding the patron saint festivities of the Virgen de la Palma.

He has collaborated with Onda Cero, COPE, the José Luis Cano Culture Foundation, as well as with the art historian Andrés Bolufer in the book In the footsteps of José Roman.
His recitals and conferences are remembered and he has published in the literary magazines Guadalmesi, Algeciras Casino, Group of literary studies of Madrid, Academus and The Palm. He has also published books Harmony which belongs to the collection writings of the bad language Vertigo Editions; Autumn Symphonyan anthology of four poets from ACADEMUS; Dialogues with my angels and the white book. She is a member of the Portus Albus Choir and monitors Complementary Therapies (relaxation and self-improvement), of which which gives classes and lectures. When we used to define her as a restless person, we fell short…
He acknowledges that he came by chance, as a self-taught artist, to practice the type of art that he now exhibits: “It was the graphic designer Soledad Gómez de Avellaneda who told me that this type of drawing was close to Zentangle, something that I was completely unaware of, but after I documented extensively”. She received guidance and help from the artist from Algeciras Manuela Puerta Medina, specialized in representing nature.
The exhibition opens, with presentation, TV and musical performance, next saturday at 11:30 in the central Ivory cafeteria (C/Gregorio Marañón) and is open to all according to the establishment’s schedule.
