The “Sports Day” on September 25th is celebrated by thousands of visitors in Austria. According to Sport Austria President Hans Niessl, there should also be low-threshold vaccination options.
In view of the still high number of cases in the coronavirus pandemic, Hans Niessl, President of the Federal Sports Organization Sport Austria, has proposed that sporting events should also be used for vaccinations. “Of course, the highest possible vaccination quota should be aimed for,” stated Niessl in a broadcast on Wednesday.

He suggests “the largest possible low-threshold offer with vaccination options for sports events”. For Niessl, the “Sports Day” on September 25 with thousands of visitors would also be suitable. The ministries of health and sport welcome this idea, the feasibility is currently being examined.
