The news came as a surprise to the captain of the University of Craiova, but also to the family members who learned that the man had hanged himself. The player’s brother found him dead in his own house, alone while his wife was in Craiova where she was taking care of Nicușor Bancu’s son.

“On August 3, around 09:00, Olt County Police Inspectors were informed, by calling 112, by a man from the Craiova area, Dolj county, that his father had hanged himself at a house in the Crâmpoia community , Oltshire.

The police from the Department 8 Perieți Rural Police went to the scene, and confirmed that the reported aspects are confirmed. From the first investigations, the police established the identity of the person, who is a 61-year-old man from the commune of Crâmpoia.

The body of the man was transported to the Slatina County Emergency Hospital, to perform the necropsy and determine the exact cause of death”, said senior representative Claudiu Șerban, IPJ Olt spokesperson.
