Nicolò Fagioli insists that newspapers are writing “bullshit” to present him in a “bad light” and says he will “speak soon”.
The Juventus midfielder was suspended for seven months after reaching a plea deal with FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné.
Fagioli confirmed that he had gambled on football matches but had never bet on Cremonese or Juventus, the only two clubs he played for during his career.
The 22-year-old posted two Instagram Stories overnight after a seven-month suspension was confirmed on Tuesday.
“I thought I would start by apologizing not only to Juventus fans but to all football fans around the world for my naive mistake,” he said.
“On the other hand, I have to start with the nonsense that the newspapers write about me to put me in a bad light with thousands of lies or, perhaps, to get more views. I will speak soon.
La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport have published the documents of Fagioli’s interrogation by the FIGC prosecutor from September 2023.
The Juventus midfielder reportedly said he accumulated debts and was threatened by owners of illegal betting platforms. He also revealed the involvement of Sandro Tonali who allegedly explained to him how to use an app to place illicit bets in 2021.
