Nicole Oliveira, the World’s Youngest 8 -Year -Old Astronomer to Work with NASA

Terkini.id, Jakarta – At the age of 8, Nicole Oliveira has become the world’s youngest astronomer. His love for the world of space led him to work as an asteroid seeker which is one of the affiliate programs with NASA.

His love for the world of space began when he began to learn to walk. At that moment, he desperately wanted to reach for the stars in the sky and raised his hands. In Oliveria’s room, many posters of the solar system, mini rockets, and Star Wars figures are plastered. Now through two large computer screens he works and studies the world of space.

“When she was two years old, she would raise her hand to the sky and ask me, (Mom, give me a star),” said Oliveira’s mother.

Reporting from kompas.com on Monday, January 3, 2022, so far Oliveira has found 18 asteroids. If his findings get certification, he takes the initiative to name the asteroid after his father and mother.

“I will give them the names of Brazilian scientists, or members of my family, like my mother and father,” explains Oliveira proudly.

The asteroid certification process does take a long time, but if it can happen then he will be named the world’s youngest asteroid discoverer. Because he is only 8 years old. He will beat the record of Luigi Sannino, an Italian astronomer who was 18 years old when his asteroid was certified.

Slightly different from the ambitions of other children of her age, Oliveira’s ambition is to make a rocket with her own hands. He also wanted to visit the Kennedy Space Center at NASA, Florida.

“I want to build a rocket. I wanted to go to the Kennedy Sapce Center at NASA in Florida to see their rockets.”

“I also want all children in Brazil to have access to science,” added Olivieira.

Thanks to his seriousness in the world of space, he has also received a scholarship at one of the prestigious schools in the city of Fortazela, Brazil. Not only that, he has also attended various international seminars and met leading space scientists in Brazil.
