UCM Semilla Program: Nurturing High Intellectual capacities and Transforming Lives
The Catholic University of Maule (UCM) has long been a beacon of academic excellence in Chile, and its UCM Semilla program stands as a testament to its commitment to fostering talent. Designed to support students with high intellectual capacities, the program provides tools and opportunities to help them reach their full potential. One such success story is Nicole Alejandra Morales Aravena, a former participant who recently achieved her dream of entering the Medicine program at UCM.
“I am very happy, excited, and happy to have entered to study medicine. I still do not believe it, because I know it is a difficult career,” Nicole shared, reflecting on the dedication and effort that brought her to this milestone.
A Lifelong Dream of Service
From a young age, Nicole felt a deep calling to help others, which fueled her passion for medicine. “I was always interested in medicine to help people,” she said. This drive led her to join the UCM Semilla program during her middle school years, where she found the support and resources needed to strengthen her knowledge and skills in the sciences.
The program, which runs from seventh grade thru high school, offers workshops and classes tailored to students with extraordinary academic abilities. nicole credits the program with not only enhancing her academic performance but also clarifying her vocational path.
“The Semilla program helped me a lot in my PAES results. It gave me a lot of knowledge through the workshops and classes I took related to science. Even in the last year, I took a first aid course, and I loved learning more about what the career is about,” she explained.
A Supportive and Inspiring Environment
Beyond academics, Nicole highlighted the warm and pleasant atmosphere fostered by the program. “It was entertaining. I tried to take advantage of all the tools that were given to us, and I also appreciated the concern and support of the UCM Semilla team, which was crucial to finishing the process,” she said.
This sense of community and encouragement is a cornerstone of the UCM Semilla program, which aims to create a nurturing environment for students to thrive.
