More than 180 people were killed in the terrorist attack at the Hamid Karzai airport in Kabul on Thursday, including 13 US soldiers. US authorities assume that it was IS ‘Afghan branch, ISIS-K, which was behind the deadly attack.
The U.S. Department of Defense has released the names of all of the soldiers who remained killed in the suicide attack. Sergeant Nicole Gee from Sacramento, California is among the dead.
Just days before the attack on Thursday, she wrote the following on Instagram:
– I love my job, Gee wrote, along with a picture of her rocking an infant at the airport in Kabul.
In another photo, posted just days later, Gee is pictured in front of a military plane with evacuees from Afghanistan.
US President Joe Biden has promised that the US will not “forgive or forget” the attack, and says that those responsible for the suicide attack should be “hunted”. He also insists that the United States bring out those Americans who want to leave Afghanistan by August 31.
The extremist Islamist group Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack at Kabul airport and a hotel nearby.
Biden says in a statement Saturday night Norwegian time that the situation in Kabul is extremely dangerous and that a new terrorist attack is likely within 24 to 36 hours.
I said we would go after the group responsible for the attack on our troops and innocent civilians in Kabul, and we have. My full statement on the strike that U.S. forces took last night against the terrorist group ISIS-K in Afghanistan: https://t.co/hOb6xQ4ZZv

All US and international forces will be out of Afghanistan by August 31, and the United States continues until Tuesday a hectic spurt in the evacuation of thousands of Americans, nationals from other countries and Afghans who need protection.
