Nicolás Maduro has already voted in the city of Caracas – 2024-07-30 21:10:59

The president of Venezuela and candidate for reelection, Nicolas Maduroassured this Sunday that he will respect the result of the elections issued at the end of the day, National Electoral Council (CNE) and called on his nine contenders to make a public commitment to this issue.

“I recognize and will recognize the referee, the official bulletins, and I will ensure that they are respected. The electoral referee’s word will be holy and I call on the 10 presidential candidates, the 38 political parties, to publicly declare that they will respect the official bulletin of the organization.”the president told reporters after voting in western Caracas.

He reiterated what he had said throughout the campaign: that his candidacy is “the only guarantee of peace” in the country.

Asked about his recognition of the results in the event of losing the election, he stressed that the CNE bulletin “will not only be recognized, but defended, in perfect civil-military union,” and assured that everything will turn out well.

“I said that I would arrive in peace and in peace it arrived (the day of the vote), and if there is something to preserve and defend it is peace, harmony, coexistence among Venezuelans. It has to be a day for good to triumph in Venezuela, by doing good, which is the greatest expression of love.”he said.

In this regard, he said that on Monday he will share “many things” related to the work done by his Government to ensure that these elections are held in peace and recalled his intention to make a new call for dialogue with various sectors, including the political and economic sectors.

As has become customary, Maduro became the first voter in his center and the first of the 10 candidates to vote, while the rest of the contenders are expected to do so throughout the morning. EFE (I)
