Former Real Madrid and Chelsea player Nikola Anelka will be the sporting director of Hyères, the fifth division team in France that Mourad Boudjellal has bought.
Indeed, after trying to buy Olympique de Marseille this summer, Mourad Boudjellal decided to acquire Hyères Football Club, a team currently in National 2, equivalent to the fifth division of French football. His first choice was to recruit Nicolas Anelka as the club’s sporting director.
The French international, absent from the field since his retirement in 2017, will join Boudjelall for his second adventure. In 2018, he was the coach of young LOSC players. This will be his third experience in France.
Anelka got interested in team management in 2012. At that time, the former Chelsea player played for Shanghai Shenhua and decided to combine the post of coach and player. But the goal he will have in Hyères, is to build a competitive team to try to obtain a promotion at the national level and to establish himself in professional football.
