Nick & Simon gave their very last concert together on Monday evening. In a sold-out Rotterdam Ahoy, they were waved goodbye by their fans, and they did not keep it all dry. The Volendam duo was also emotional after the final agreement.
During the sixth and final farewell concert, one more time was sung along with all the hits. Friends Jan Smit and Kees Tol also showed up on stage.
Nick Schilder (39) and Simon Keizer (38) ended their show with a big hug and were applauded by the audience for a long time. Keizer also blinked away a number of tears. The fans have been doing that long before. Even with the first songs, some couldn’t hold back their tears.
After Monday, Schilder and Keizer will each go their own way musically. In August they announced that they would call it quits after seventeen years. Both want to focus on a solo career.
They emphasized that there is no dispute. The duo will continue to make television together. Their new AVROTROS documentary about The Beatles will soon be released, in which Tol can also be seen. The trio has previously made similar programs about ABBA and Simon & Garfunkel.
Nick & Simon formed one of the most successful Dutch musical duos ever. The two scored no less than ten number 1 hits in the Single Top 100. Eleven records reached the top spot on the album chart. The last album, Now or neveralso reached number 1 in November.
